Christmas Celebration - Last Painting of 2014

Although I spent my Christmas at Port Aransas, TX, and was thoroughly enjoying the sights there I wanted to paint something in celebration of  the Christmas season and the birth of my Lord and Savior, even if it was little. This would make a cute little painting to hang in my motorhome.

Hay Rolls in Mississippi

The last of the hay season in Mississippi is quite late, lasting into the month of December.
I loved seeing this wheat-colored field and the contrasting shadows from the trees that lined the road. The photo had been taken while traveling the back roads near my daughter's home during my visit. I did not get to paint it until after leaving there.

Beach Scene

As I was leaving Mississippi, I wanted to visit the beaches near where my eldest child was born. I was able to park my RV in one of the pull-offs and take a nice long walk, savoring the memories as I wandered. I took several pictures along the way, especially for her. Neither one of us had been there since 1963, the year she was born.
I decided to do a quick sketch painting of the scene. She loves it so much I promised her a large one for their bedroom which is painted a sea-grey and has ocean accents as part of the décor.

Pet Portrait

I did this portrait of my future son-in-law's dog for a present for his birthday.
He was so surprised, and so happy with it. Daisy has such a friendly, loving personality!
I enjoyed every minute of working on this painting!
(I did crop it a little close when editing to post.)

Beauty of Nature

We are not always aware of the beauty in the most mundane things of life until we slow down enough to really look.  This is not really a wildflower but is a wild grass that grows profusely  in fields and pastures, mostly in the southern states. It is the bane of many farmers and ranchers as it chokes the more nutritive grasses fed on by livestock. I, however, have always liked the almost independent look of the stocks.

Side-Step

Visiting Daughter #3 in Mississippi, she asked me to help her with a painting she had been struggling with. The idea came from her, and was to be a painting for her son who has been facing many struggles in his young life, but now through trusting Christ, was on the road to a better life! As she was painting and we talked, I painted along, basically using the same idea she was trying to transfer from her heart and head to the canvas. The new thing for me was painting with her acrylics, which I had never tried before. This was my version. I am also posting hers, She has just begun paint a few months ago and is making great strides in her skills!

as we were working....
She hadn't put the scripture on yet and a shawl over the cross.
I wish I had a finished picture of hers. It was so fun doing these together!

First Camping site of Autumn

I love camping at my favorite place in Kentucky and will always stop there on the way through, This is my 4th painting of Energy Lake at Land Between the Lakes. It is just so peaceful there and it has been a good 1st stop to unwind and a last refresher before the final leg of the journey home.

I know...... it's been a while.

"Purple Coneflowers"

These flowers grow in the wild in certain parts of the country, however the ones in the painting grew in my garden, and these are some of my my favorites.
