A single specimen of one of the numerous miles of tall pines I saw in the deep southeast on my travels this late winter. This one was at a roadside rest area in Alabama. It just begged to be painted!

A quick sketch of the pond behind a roadside rest in east Texas. Te sun was just coming up and casting beautiful beams of light on the reeds beside the pond. Birds were singing and ducks were swimming on the far side. I plan to make a larger version of this rendering.

Taken from one of the many scenes near the Guadalupe River. I love how the bright blue sky is reflecting in the water, surrounded by the limestone rock. I hope to finish this soon!

Snow Moon -Feb 4, 2015

Have you heard of the "snow moon"? I hadn't until this year. It is the first full moon in February.

My daughter took this photo from her upstairs window about 4 am. As I am traveling, I of course missed the beautiful scene, but not the deep snow that has come since then!
