I am having WAY too much fun (Puppy Portrait)

"Gemma"
This is my SIL's puppy that I have been going to paint for some time. I have never tried this type of background before. It just kind of came about on its own....
sorry for the glare , it is still wet.
Eventually I will be getting back to "The Water-hole".....

  1. "Gemma" is a winner Sunny!

    Regarding photos of paintings with a digital camera, try this method;

    Best use a fluorescent, or "shop" light, above your working area COMBINED WITH a warm light(s) coming in from the side, like a regular 60 or 75 watt bulb shining from the left if your right handed so your painting arm doesn't cast a shadow on your work, etc.

    Never use a flash but shoot your paintings with the flash off and then brighten or darken them, warm or cool them on your puter monitor with programs like Picassa, microsoft photo studio, etc, whatever works for your PC.

    For actual painting and shooting original art, the warm-plus-cool combos have worked best for artists inside for years. Hope this helps and thanks for your birthday regards,
    TJ

  2. Hello Sunny - great painting. I had a pomeranian for close to 16 years and I hope to do a painting of him sometime. I also enjoyed reading the comment that your friend left about lighting. Blogging is a great tool for artists.

  3. You are so talented! I need to get my paints out again and give them a whirl. It's been years since I've done anything; but NOTHING as grand as yours. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Sunny - you've done a great job on your painting blog AND on your paintings! Just look at this sweet little face on Gemma! So cute!

    Now that rabbit season has slacked off, I think you'll busy busy painting and working on your next masterpiece! I'm so proud of you (and a little envious, too! haha) cuz I still don't have enough time to devote to painting. I hope to very very soon!
